“A house divided against itself cannot stand” usually is credited to Abraham Lincoln at one of his debates with Stephen A. Douglas as a way of saying that the Union of the States could not continue indefinitely with half its members free and half holding slaves. Lincoln, in his turn, was quoting or paraphrasing Jesus Christ after he was accused by the Pharisees of casting out demons by Beelzebul, the prince of demons. Bob the Builder and Tucker are well-read.
