B.C. comic strip’s \u2018Cute Chick\u2019 and \u2018Fat Broad\u2019 are now \u2018Grace\u2019 and \u2018Jane\u2019 !<\/h3>\n

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE<\/h4>\n

Nineveh, NY \u2013 John Hart Studios Inc. announces the names Grace and Jane will replace \u2018Cute Chick\u2019 and \u2018Fat Broad\u2019 in their \u201cB.C.\u201d comic strip, effective immediately. \u201cWe work hard to keep the strip fresh and relevant for all fans and audiences,\u201d says Perri Hart, the strip\u2019s letterer and colorist. \u201cAnd it just seems like the right time for \u2018the girls\u2019 to have names.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Hart\u2019s comic strip business, which includes perennial classics \u201cB.C.\u201d and \u201cWizard of Id,\u201d is run by the daughters of the late Johnny Hart, Patti and Perri. \u201cB.C.\u201d is written and drawn by Hart\u2019s grandsons, Mason Mastroianni and Mick Mastroianni.<\/p>\n

\u201cSince my grandfather’s death, we\u2019ve strived to be culturally inclusive and preserve the timeless appeal of the strip by focusing on universal human themes. We\u2019re all in this together, and we want \u2018B.C\u2019 to connect with every audience,\u201d says Mason, \u201cB.C.\u201d cartoonist.\u00a0\u201cBy doing nothing, we\u2019d perpetuate pejorative descriptions of these two important lead characters, and that\u2019s not what we\u2019re about.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile we poke fun at everything, at its core the \u2018B.C.\u2019 comic strip is about respect and inclusivity,\u201d adds Mick, \u201cWizard of Id\u201d writer. “It\u2019s a big tent where everyone should feel at home.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOur family has always had a deep desire to give these two women names,\u201d adds Patti Hart. \u201cIt’s not about political correctness or to placate any social pressure, it’s simply something we\u2019ve always wanted to do. Here’s to Grace and Jane!\u201d<\/p>\n

“It’s about time!” exclaims Grace. <\/em><\/h3>\n

“I can’t wait to officially introduce myself to the snake.” says Jane.<\/em><\/h3>\n
