The Pollen-Man is either cotton-wood pollen, or dandelion-floaters, or both. Cotton-wood really does look like fluffy snow; there were cotton-wood trees on my parents’ property, and the fluff did look like new-fallen, fluffy snow even when the weather was quite warm.
