People will sometimes refer to extremely annoying or grating things as “like nails on a chalkboard”. What they’re referring to is the sound of fingernails being dragged across a chalkboard, which makes a horrible noise. Wiz has placed a bag of the carpentry kind of nails on a chalkboard and is confused as to why this isn’t doing anything particularly annoying. The local fink is unimpressed with this.
